Why are grant applications not open yet?: In this state of our organization, we are still working with donors and partners to gather funds and get individuals involved. As soon as applications are open, we'll let you know on social media!
How long does it take for applications to get reviewed?: Applications typically take 2-3 weeks to get reviewed. After reviewing an application, the committee will respond to the application with next steps, if any.
Who is able to apply?: Any organization or group of individuals currently residing in the USA is able to apply, with the project having to also take place in the USA.
How are projects selected from the many that apply?: We have a special rubric that allows for us to objectively and fairly grade all aspects of a project, including costs, time, long-term potential, number of individuals or communities affected, and the potential to improve the project. This rubric allows for us to pick the best projects during an application period on the same scale.
What makes you unique from crowdfunding services and websites?: The Salaam Foundation offers a unique and extensive donor base that contributes not only financial means but other resources and advice for those who are in need. We focus on specific categories of projects and personally vet each project we present to our donors and followers, including a follow up for all of the donors to see the result of their generous donations!
How are the funds disbursed?: Funds are disbursed one of two ways depending on the application and the applicant organization or individuals. The two ways are a check with the amount awarded for the project is sent to the organizers, and the other is that a committee member or ambassador will apply the funds awarded directly as listed in the project budget with advisement from the organizers.
How can I get more involved with Salaam’s spotlight organizations?: If the contact information for the organization is not on our website under the Spotlights tab or on our social media, please Contact Us and we will relay the information to you directly. Contacting them directly will be the best way to ask how you can help, other than donating to them, of course!

How does the Ambassador system/network work? How can I help or become an ambassador?: Each Ambassador is responsible for a certain area in the city they currently live in. These Ambassadors are a part of a system of motivated individuals always seeing if they can inspire and empower another organization or group of individuals to change their community with the help of the Salaam Foundation.
